PotchStay information
Terms of use
Last updated: 3 October 2026
These terms explain what PotchStay offers and what to expect when you use the directory. By using the site, you agree to use it lawfully and responsibly.
1. Our service
PotchStay is an independent student-accommodation discovery and referral directory for Potchefstroom. It is not affiliated with NWU, NSFAS, or listed accommodation providers. We do not provide accommodation, accept applications or bookings, arrange leases, collect rent, or process accommodation payments.
2. Listing information
Listings can combine public-source, provider-supplied, and community-submitted information accepted for publication. All accommodation is source-listed; PotchStay has not independently checked any residence. We label sources where available, but prices, availability, funding acceptance, accreditation, facilities, and contact details can change. A listing is not a guarantee of accuracy, a room, funding, safety, or eligibility. Confirm material details independently with the provider and, where relevant, the official institution before relying on them.
3. Contacting providers
PotchStay may show checked provider websites, email addresses, phone numbers, and other contact channels. These take you outside our service or connect you directly with the provider. PotchStay does not offer direct application links or submit applications on your behalf. A link click is not an application, acceptance, reservation, or agreement. Ask the provider about its own current process and verify its identity and payment details before sending money or documents.
4. Accounts and contributions
If you create an account, keep your credentials secure and give accurate information. Do not use another person’s account without permission. Contributions and reports should be honest, relevant, and based on information you are authorised to share. Do not submit passwords, banking credentials, private documents, unlawful material, or personal information about others without authority. We may review, decline, correct, or remove submissions and listings to protect the directory and its users.
5. Acceptable use
Do not impersonate others, post fraudulent information, harass people, interfere with the site, scrape it abusively, or use it for unlawful purposes. We may restrict access to protect users or investigate misuse.
6. External services and changes
External provider and map sites have their own terms and privacy practices. PotchStay does not control their content or transactions. We may update the directory, correct records, or temporarily suspend features. Where these terms change materially, we will update the date on this page.
7. Responsibility and contact
You remain responsible for checking accommodation and deciding whether to contact, apply to, pay, or contract with a provider. Nothing on this site replaces official institutional advice or professional advice. These terms do not limit rights that cannot lawfully be limited. For questions, corrections, or complaints, visit Contact PotchStay or email potchstay@gmail.com. Personal information is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
